**Sharjah, UAE:** Afghanistan leg-spinner Rashid Khan narrowly escaped a serious head injury during the final ODI match of the three-match series between Afghanistan and Bangladesh, held at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium on Monday.
The incident occurred when Bangladesh’s Mehdi Hasan Miraz and Mahmudullah were batting and attempted a single run. As Rashid Khan chased after the ball, he slid to catch it, but the ball’s momentum propelled him towards his teammate, wicketkeeper Rahmanullah Gurbaz, who was running in from behind.
To avoid colliding with Rashid, Gurbaz jumped over him, but his shoe grazed Rashid’s head, causing his cap to fall off. Thankfully, Rashid suffered no injuries.
The video of the incident quickly went viral on social media, sparking concern amongst fans.
“Hats off, Rashid Khan!” many wrote on Twitter, expressing relief and gratitude for the leg-spinner’s safety.
Afghanistan won the final ODI by 5 wickets, securing a 2-1 series win against Bangladesh.
