**Lucknow, India** – Schools in Uttar Pradesh will be closed on November 13th and 15th due to a combination of by-elections and religious holidays. The UP government has declared a public holiday on November 13th for voting in the state assembly by-elections, which will take place in nine constituencies.

The holiday will apply to all schools in the districts where the by-elections are being held: Ambedkarnagar, Mainpuri, Muzaffarnagar, Ghaziabad, Mirzapur, Kanpur city, Aligarh, Prayagraj, and Moradabad.

Furthermore, schools will be closed across the state on November 15th, which marks Kartik Purnima. This religious holiday is celebrated widely in Uttar Pradesh.

The government previously announced a holiday on November 31st and 1st due to confusion regarding Diwali. However, the holiday has been extended to include November 15th.

The by-election results are scheduled to be announced on November 23rd.
