**LOS ANGELES** – John Robinson, a renowned figure in the world of football, passed away Monday at the age of 89. The legendary coach, known for his successful tenures at USC and with the Los Angeles Rams, died in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, due to complications from pneumonia.

Robinson, a College Football Hall of Fame inductee, left an indelible mark on both college and professional football. His impressive career includes two successful stints at USC, where he amassed a remarkable 104-35-4 record, winning five conference titles and four Rose Bowls. Under his guidance, USC produced Heisman Trophy winners Charles White and Marcus Allen.

His time with the Rams, spanning nine seasons, saw him become the franchise’s winningest coach until recently surpassed by current head coach Sean McVay. Robinson led the Rams to six playoff appearances in his first seven seasons, including two trips to the NFC Championship game.

“John was a great coach, a great man, and a great friend,” said Rams owner Stan Kroenke. “He will be missed by all who knew him.”

Robinson’s coaching journey also included stints at UNLV and LSU, showcasing his versatility and dedication to the sport. He also spent time as a broadcaster, sharing his insights with fans.

Known for his relentless rushing offenses and his ability to cultivate talent, Robinson earned the respect of players, colleagues, and fans alike. His contributions to the game will be long remembered.

A celebration of Robinson’s life will be held after the conclusion of the college football season, as per his wishes. He is survived by his wife, Beverly, four children, two stepchildren, and 10 grandchildren.
