**WASHINGTON, D.C. -** President-elect Donald Trump announced on Sunday that former Acting Director of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), Tom Homan, will oversee all border security in his new administration. Homan, who served under Trump’s first term, will be known as the “Border Czar” and will be responsible for the Southern and Northern borders, as well as Maritime and Aviation Security.
Trump, who made cracking down on illegal immigration a central part of his campaign, frequently praised Homan during the campaign and has now entrusted him with enforcing his immigration policies. Homan will also be responsible for deporting illegal immigrants.
Homan, who is also a contender for the position of Secretary of Homeland Security, is expected to implement strict immigration policies that align with Trump’s hardline stance.
Trump is currently meeting with potential candidates for his administration before his inauguration on January 20. It was also reported that Trump offered Republican Representative Elise Stefanik the position of U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations.
