Maruti Suzuki has unveiled the next-generation Dzire in India, with an introductory starting price of Rs 6.79 lakh (ex-showroom) valid until December 31st. The new model is available in four trims, powered by two engine options and offered with two transmission choices.
The updated Dzire features a price range starting at Rs 6.79 lakh for the base model and topping out at Rs 10.14 lakh for the top-spec ZXi+ AMT variant. This represents a price increase of Rs 23,000 at the entry-level and Rs 80,000 at the top end compared to the previous generation.
The new Dzire faces competition from the Hyundai Aura, Tata Tigor, and the upcoming new generation Honda Amaze. While it offers more features than the Aura and Tigor, the new Dzire starts at a higher price point. The Amaze, on the other hand, has a higher starting price but a lower top-end price than the Dzire.
The Dzire also competes with compact SUVs like the Kiger, Magnite, Exter, and Punch, which offer similar features but with SUV styling and higher ground clearance. In the premium hatchback segment, the Baleno, Glanza, and Hyundai i20 are its rivals, with the i20 being the most expensive.
The new Dzire comes equipped with projector headlamps, LED taillamps, a 7.0-inch touchscreen with wireless phone mirroring, and a height-adjustable driver’s seat. Safety features include six airbags, ESP, ABS with EBD, hill-hold assist, and ISOFIX child seat mounting points. The Dzire is the first Maruti car to receive a five-star GNCAP crash test rating.
The new Dzire is powered by a 1.2-litre Z-Series petrol engine producing 80bhp and 112Nm of torque. It is available with a five-speed manual transmission and an AMT unit. A CNG variant is also available, delivering 68bhp and 102Nm of torque.
While the ZXi variant offers most of the desirable features, the ZXi+ variant comes with additional “brag features.” The new Dzire is expected to further strengthen Maruti’s position in the compact sedan segment and offer a compelling choice for customers looking for a well-equipped and fuel-efficient car.
