Tue Nov 12 00:54:50 UTC 2024: ## Ferguson Out of ODI Series, Milne Called Up for New Zealand

**Dambulla, Sri Lanka:** New Zealand’s hopes of winning the upcoming three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka have taken a hit as star fast bowler Lockie Ferguson has been ruled out due to a calf injury sustained during the second T20I on Sunday.

Ferguson, who impressed with a hat-trick in the match, will return home to assess the severity of the injury and begin his rehabilitation. “We’re gutted for Lockie,” said Black Caps head coach Gary Stead. “He showed in the space of just two overs what an asset he is with the ball, and he’s also brought a lot of leadership to this group, so he’ll be a big miss heading into an important ODI series for us.”

In Ferguson’s absence, the New Zealand team has called upon Adam Milne, who is a direct replacement for the injured pacer. “To be ruled out so early in a tour is always tough to take, but we’re hopeful his recovery will be short, and he’ll be back out on the field in no time,” Stead stated. “Adam is a like-for-like replacement who brings genuine pace and plenty of international experience, so we’re looking forward to welcoming him into the group.”

The first ODI is set to commence on Wednesday, November 13 at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium.
