Tue Nov 12 15:31:18 UTC 2024: ## Judicial Commission Probes MUDA Land Allotment Irregularities in Mysore

**Mysore, November 12, 2024:** The one-man Judicial Commission, headed by former Karnataka High Court judge Justice P.N. Desai, conducted its first inspection of the Mysore Urban Development Authority (MUDA) office on Tuesday. The commission, formed in July this year to investigate alleged irregularities in land allotments by MUDA, has been given six months to complete its inquiry and submit a report.

Security measures were heightened at the MUDA premises in anticipation of Justice Desai’s visit, with barricades erected at entry gates and additional police personnel deployed. The MUDA Commissioner and key staff members were present to provide the commission with necessary information and documents for the probe.

The investigation centers around allegations of irregularities in land allotments, particularly those made under the 50:50 scheme. The allegations have led to scrutiny of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, his wife Parvathi, and two others. They have already provided statements to the Lokayukta Police, which is conducting a separate investigation into the case.

The Opposition BJP and JD(S) have accused Parvathi of illegally receiving allotments for her 3.16 acres of land acquired by MUDA. Parvathi has since returned the allotted sites to MUDA following the allegations.

Justice Desai’s visit to the MUDA office marks a significant step in the commission’s investigation into the alleged irregularities. The public awaits the findings of the commission to determine the extent of any wrongdoing and potential accountability within the MUDA.
