Visakhapatnam, November 12, 2024: GITAM Deemed to be University, in collaboration with Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Samithi, hosted the inaugural ceremony of the Regional Children Science Congress 2024 on Monday. The event, which concludes on November 15, emphasizes the importance of nurturing young minds for a progressive and innovative India.

Prof. Y. Gowtham Rao, GITAM’s in-charge vice-chancellor, highlighted the crucial role of responsible youth in shaping the nation’s future. He underscored the interdisciplinary nature of technology, urging students to delve deep into their subjects and cultivate critical thinking skills for intellectual growth.

E. Umapathi Reddy, Assistant Commissioner (In-Charge) of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Samithi Hyderabad Region, noted that this year’s event marks the first Children Science Congress held in Andhra Pradesh. He expressed pride in the growth of the Navodaya network, which now includes 661 schools across the country, dedicated to nurturing rural youth. Reddy also emphasized the initiative’s commitment to science education, tracing its roots back to the first Children Science Congress in 2005.

K.S. Krishna, Dean of GITAM School of Science, emphasized the significance of observation in scientific discovery. He encouraged parents, teachers, and society at large to support young talents in pursuing their passions and achieving mastery in their chosen fields. Krishna also acknowledged the supportive environment fostered by the new education policy, believing it empowers young aspirants to realize their dreams.

The inaugural event showcased a special painting exhibition, highlighting the creativity of participating students. Over the next few days, attendees will engage in enriching scientific lectures, lab visits, and quiz competitions, fostering a deeper understanding of science and innovation.
