**Ramanathapuram, November 11, 2024:** Fishermen in Ramanathapuram will stage a protest on Tuesday, after peace talks with officials failed to resolve the issue of 23 fishermen and three fishing boats being seized by the Sri Lankan Navy on Sunday.
The arrested fishermen were produced in a court in Yazhpanam and subsequently imprisoned. Fishermen representatives condemned the Sri Lankan Navy’s actions and announced a road roko protest on the Pamban bridge road.
Despite attempts by officials to convince the fishermen to drop their protest during a meeting on Monday, the negotiations proved unsuccessful. The fishermen have confirmed that the protest will proceed as planned.
