Mon Nov 11 21:59:42 UTC 2024: ## Maruti Suzuki Confident New Dzire Will Boost Sedan Sales Despite Market Trend

**New Delhi, India** – Despite a declining trend in the popularity of sedans, Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. is confident that its new Dzire will drive growth in the segment. The company launched the fourth generation of its entry-level sedan on Monday, priced starting at ₹6.79 lakh.

The new Dzire boasts a distinct design, differentiating it from its hatchback counterpart, the Swift. Maruti Suzuki has also prioritized safety, with the new model achieving a five-star rating for adult and four stars for child occupant safety in Global NCAP testing. It is the first Maruti Suzuki car to receive a five-star Global NCAP rating.

“We are confident that the new Dzire will give us further growth opportunity in this segment,” said Hisashi Takeuchi, Managing Director and CEO of Maruti Suzuki India. “In order to maintain our market share, we have to have a presence in each of the segments including sedans.”

Despite the overall decline in sedan sales, Maruti Suzuki remains a dominant force in the entry-level segment. The company holds a 61% share of the entry-sedan market, with the Dzire accounting for almost half of all sedans sold in India.

Maruti Suzuki plans to continue the outgoing Dzire model, branded as the Tour S, specifically for fleet operators. The new model will not be offered to taxi companies, further distinguishing it from commercial vehicles.

While the company acknowledges the growing popularity of SUVs in India, Takeuchi said there are no plans to introduce additional sedan models at this time. “We need to introduce additional models in SUVs,” he stated.

The new Dzire’s launch comes amidst a larger trend of shifting consumer preferences towards SUVs. However, Maruti Suzuki believes that the new model’s features and safety credentials will attract buyers looking for a well-rounded sedan experience.
