Mon Nov 11 13:37:06 UTC 2024: ## BJP Files Complaint Against Rahul Gandhi, Kharge With Election Commission

**New Delhi:** The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has filed a complaint with the Election Commission of India (ECI) against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and party president Mallikarjun Kharge, accusing them of spreading “lies” against the BJP and its ideological mentor, the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS).

A BJP delegation led by Union Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal submitted a 10-page memorandum to the ECI, citing Gandhi’s speeches and remarks, and demanding that he be censured and restrained. The complaint alleges that Gandhi falsely accused the BJP of wanting to “crush the Constitution” and made “unverified” claims about the manufacturing of Apple iPhones and Boeing airplanes in other states at the expense of Maharashtra.

This move comes in response to the Congress filing a complaint against the BJP for allegedly posting misleading advertisements on social media. The Congress accused the BJP of disseminating false information about leaders of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), Congress, and the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) in a Facebook advertisement on November 9th.

The Congress complaint, filed on Sunday, claimed the advertisement violated the Model Code of Conduct by making “false allegations” and portraying the leaders in a “negative and false light.”

The BJP claims that Gandhi’s accusations are “solely to achieve electoral gains” in the upcoming Maharashtra elections. The party further alleges that the Congress complaint against their advertisement is baseless.

The ECI is yet to respond to either complaint.
