**Virudhunagar, November 12, 2024:** The Tamil Nadu Labour Welfare Board has announced an educational assistance program for the children of registered laborers. Applications are now open and will be accepted until December 31, 2024.
The program offers financial assistance ranging from ₹1,000 to ₹12,000 for children enrolled in pre-KG to post-graduate studies. Additional incentives are available for students achieving high marks in the 10th and 12th public examinations.
To be eligible, the laborer’s monthly salary (including pay and dearness allowance) must not exceed ₹35,000. Application forms can be obtained from the Tamil Nadu Labour Welfare Board office or downloaded from http://www.lwb.tn.gov.in. Completed applications should be sent to the Secretary, Tamil Nadu Labour Welfare Board, Chennai -6 by December 31, 2024.
The program is funded by the Labour Welfare Fund, which is collected annually from organized sectors like industrial units, shops, transport companies, food industry, and farm sector. Employers are required to contribute ₹60 per employee to the fund, with the deadline for payment set for January 31, 2025.
