**LOS ANGELES, CA** – Oscar-winning actress Angela Bassett will reprise her role as CIA Director Erika Sloane in the highly anticipated **”Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning”**, Deadline can exclusively reveal.
Bassett returns to the franchise following her appearance in **”Mission: Impossible – Fallout”** (2018). The upcoming eighth installment, currently in production, will see Tom Cruise back as Ethan Hunt, leading his team on a global mission to avert disaster.
The plot of **”Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning”** remains shrouded in secrecy, but the film boasts a stellar cast. In addition to Cruise, returning actors include Hayley Atwell, Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg, Esai Morales, Pom Klementieff, Vanessa Kirby, Mariela Garriga, Henry Czerny, Shea Whigham, Greg Tarzan Davis, Charles Parnell, and Frederick Schmidt. Joining the franchise for the first time are Holt McCallany, Janet McTeer, Nick Offerman, Hannah Waddingham, Katy O’Brian, and Stephen Oyoung.
Director Christopher McQuarrie, who helmed the previous two installments, is back behind the camera. The film is set for release on May 23, 2025.
Bassett is currently starring in ABC’s **”9-1-1″** and recently appeared in Netflix’s **”Damsel”** alongside Millie Bobby Brown. She is also lending her voice to Laika’s animated film **”Wildwood”** and will star opposite Robert De Niro in Netflix’s **”Zero Day”**.
