**Hyderabad, India:** In a dramatic turn of events, Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leader and former state minister, KT Rama Rao (KTR), has accused the Congress government in Telangana of facilitating corruption in the implementation of the AMRUT scheme. Speaking to NDTV, KTR alleged that the Congress government is favoring a company linked to Revanth Reddy’s brother-in-law, Sujan Reddy, in AMRUT tenders, despite the company’s lack of qualifications and questionable track record.
KTR pointed out that Sodha Constructions, the company in question, had minimal profits before the Congress came to power in Telangana, raising concerns about the transparency of the tender process. He further criticized the BJP for remaining silent on the alleged corruption, despite the fact that the BJP and Congress are political rivals across the country.
“BJP and Congress fight against each other, but in Telangana I see ‘Ajab Prem Ki Gazab Kahani’,” KTR remarked, referring to a Bollywood film about a complicated love story. “The BJP sits quietly against the Congress government in Telangana,” he added.
The Congress, currently holding 76 seats in the Telangana Assembly, has defended itself against these allegations. Telangana Revenue Minister countered KTR’s accusations, suggesting that his Delhi visit was an attempt to seek favors from Union ministers, including a possible plea to drop charges against him in the Formula-E race funds transfer case. The minister also accused KTR of diverting Rs 55 crore to a Formula-E racing company without cabinet approval, an accusation currently under investigation by the state police’s anti-corruption bureau.
The ongoing political battle between the BRS and Congress in Telangana has seen a series of heated exchanges between KTR and Revanth Reddy, often escalating into personal attacks. The current allegations of corruption further fuel the political fire, adding another layer of complexity to the already strained relationship between the two parties.
