**Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh:** A 50-year-old man, Lallu Chaubey, was rescued by the police on Saturday after being held hostage in Jhansi for ransom. He had been kidnapped on Thursday following an alleged honeytrap scheme.
According to police, Chaubey’s son filed a complaint after receiving a ransom call demanding Rs 3 lakh. The family had already paid Rs 1 lakh before the police launched an investigation.
Multiple police teams were deployed to locate Chaubey, with one constable posing as his son to deliver the ransom. This led the police to the location where he was being held captive.
Three individuals – Kiran (35), Akhilesh Ahirwar (30), and Satish Singh Bundela (27) – were arrested during the rescue operation.
During questioning, the accused admitted to using a network of women to lure men into honeytraps. Once the victims were lured to Jhansi, they were kidnapped and held for ransom. The police are currently investigating the extent of this gang’s operations and the number of women involved.
