Sun Nov 10 17:37:59 UTC 2024: ## Drone Attacks Mark Escalation in Russia-Ukraine War
**Moscow and Kyiv:** In a significant escalation of the ongoing conflict, Russia and Ukraine have engaged in their largest drone attacks on each other since the war began.
On Saturday night, Russia launched 145 drones towards Ukrainian targets, while Ukraine retaliated with an unprecedented attack on Moscow, using 84 drones.
While Ukraine claims to have shot down 62 of the Russian drones, Russia reported intercepting 84 Ukrainian drones over six regions, including some that reached the outskirts of Moscow. The attack forced the diversion of flights from three of the capital’s major airports.
The drone attack on Moscow caused damage in Ramenskoye, south-west of the capital, injuring five people and setting four houses ablaze.
The attacks come amid speculation about the potential impact of US President-elect Donald Trump on the conflict. Trump has previously stated his desire to end the war and has spoken with both Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Russian President Vladimir Putin since his election victory.
While Trump’s advisors suggest the incoming administration may focus on peace, not territorial gains for Ukraine, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov has expressed optimism about Trump’s stance on the conflict.
Meanwhile, reports indicate that Russia suffered its highest monthly casualty rate in October, while making significant territorial gains.
The escalating conflict continues to raise concerns about international security and the potential for further escalation.
