**MUMBAI, INDIA -** Union Home Minister Amit Shah has expressed unwavering confidence in the ruling Mahayuti coalition’s victory in the upcoming Maharashtra Assembly elections. Speaking after unveiling the BJP’s manifesto on Sunday, Shah stated that the alliance, comprising the BJP, Shiv Sena (led by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde), and NCP (led by Deputy CM Ajit Pawar), will retain power with a full majority.
The decision regarding the next Chief Minister will be taken after the polls by the alliance partners, Shah clarified. He emphasized that a committee of ministers from all three parties will be formed to prioritize the promises made in their respective manifestos.
Shah attributed the split in the Shiv Sena and NCP to internal power struggles, accusing the parties of prioritizing their families over party interests. He rejected the Congress’ accusation of BJP’s plan to weaken reservations, asserting that the Modi government had strengthened them by extending reservations to OBCs.
Addressing criticism against the Mahayuti government’s Ladki Bahin scheme for women, Shah highlighted the hypocrisy of the opposition MVA, who have pledged a similar scheme with higher financial assistance. He urged Rahul Gandhi to focus on the state of affairs in Congress-ruled states instead of criticizing the BJP’s performance.
Shah also dismissed MVA allegations about Maharashtra lagging behind in investments, pointing to the state’s highest FDI inflow in the last two years. He accused the Congress of engaging in divisive caste politics and mocked Rahul Gandhi for carrying a book with blank pages, calling him a “joke”.
