Sun Nov 10 16:03:12 UTC 2024: ## Bengaluru Police Bust Another Fake Degree Certificate Racket
**Bengaluru, November 10, 2024** – The Central Crime Branch (CCB) in Bengaluru is actively investigating a new case involving the sale of counterfeit degree certificates from various universities. The racket was uncovered following a sting operation conducted by a city-based media house.
The accused, identified as Mohan from Sunkadakatte, is alleged to have been selling fake certificates for degrees ranging from B.Tech and B.Pharm to LLB. Customers could purchase these certificates for a fee, specifying their desired course and receiving a complete document with seals, signatures, and logos within days. They were not required to enroll or attend any classes.
The sting operation resulted in the seizure of eight to ten fake certificates, including high school diplomas and professional degrees. These certificates were allegedly issued by institutions in various states, including Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Karnataka.
Police investigations have revealed that several individuals who acquired these counterfeit certificates have secured jobs in private companies. The CCB suspects that Mohan is not working alone and that others, possibly linked to the colleges, are involved in the scam. The investigation is ongoing.
This is not the first instance of the CCB uncovering such a racket. Last year, they dismantled a similar operation and arrested a gang responsible for printing and selling fake degree certificates. In January 2023, they arrested a man running a systematic operation involving the sale of fake degrees from prestigious institutions like Bangalore University and Annamalai University. The raids led to the seizure of thousands of fake certificates and various electronic devices used in the operation.
The CCB is committed to cracking down on these fraudulent activities and ensuring the integrity of educational institutions.
