**Begusarai, Bihar (November 10, 2024):** A 25-year-old railway employee, Amar Kumar, was tragically killed in a shunting accident at Barauni Junction station on Saturday. The incident occurred while Kumar was caught between the buffers of a train engine and a coach during the shunting of the Lucknow Junction-Barauni Express.

According to eyewitnesses, the accident took place at platform number 5. A video of the incident, showing Kumar’s body stuck between the buffers, went viral on social media.

The family of the deceased alleged negligence on the part of railway staff, refusing to allow a post-mortem examination until action was taken against those responsible. Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) of Sonpur division, Vivek Bhushan Sood, reached the spot and pacified the family, resolving the situation.

East Central Railway officials confirmed the incident and ordered a high-level inquiry to determine the cause of the accident. The CPRO, Sharswati Chandra, stated that the incident was “unfortunate” and a violation of safety guidelines during shunting operations. Strict action will be taken against any erring employees after the completion of the investigation.
