Sun Nov 10 17:24:42 UTC 2024: ## Rinku Singh’s Batting Position Sparks Debate After India’s T20I Win Over South Africa

**Durban, South Africa:** Following India’s clinical victory against South Africa in the first T20I, former cricketer Aakash Chopra has raised concerns about Rinku Singh’s batting position, questioning why the promising batsman is consistently sent in at No. 6.

Chopra, known for his insightful commentary, highlighted Rinku’s consistent performance when batting higher up the order, particularly in the powerplay. He pointed out that Rinku has consistently scored half-centuries at a remarkable strike rate when promoted to No. 4 and has proven to be a reliable crisis man.

“Why don’t you send him at No. 4?” questioned Chopra. “What is the reason that you only send Rinku down the order, always at No. 6?”

Chopra emphasized that Rinku’s ability to finish innings shouldn’t be mistaken for his sole strength. He believes Rinku possesses the skills to drive the game, showcasing timing and finesse rather than brute force.

“He tries to score runs with timing and then he makes the most of whatever he has. I feel you could have played him at No. 4 in Durban. In fact, you could have done that in this entire series and moved Tilak Varma down because someone has to go at No. 6,” suggested Chopra.

Despite his impressive performances, Rinku has only batted at No. 4 twice in his 20 innings for India. The remaining three T20Is will be crucial in determining whether the team management will consider Chopra’s suggestion and utilize Rinku’s talents to their full potential.
