Sun Nov 10 17:24:41 UTC 2024: ## Chopra Questions India’s Batting Order, Calls For Rinku Singh Promotion

**JOHANNESBURG:** Former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra has raised concerns over Rinku Singh’s batting position in the Indian T20I team after the first match against South Africa. Despite being a consistent performer with an impressive average of 54.44 in 27 matches, Rinku has been relegated to the No. 6 position, limiting his opportunities to showcase his skills.

In the first T20I, Rinku came in late in the innings, scoring only 11 runs off 10 balls. While India won convincingly by 61 runs, Chopra questioned the team management’s decision to keep Rinku down the order.

“Are we being fair to Rinku?” he asked on his YouTube channel. “He’s a consistent performer. He has been sent up the order in previous matches, and he has always delivered. He has emerged as a crisis man for India, scoring half-centuries at excellent strike rates.”

Chopra highlighted that Rinku’s ability to score runs at a high pace makes him more than just a finisher. “He is not just a finisher like Andre Russell or Hardik Pandya,” he stated. “He can play up the order and drive the game. He’s shown that he can handle pressure and score runs when needed.”

The former cricketer believes that the first T20I was the perfect opportunity to give Rinku a chance to bat higher up the order and demonstrate his full potential. He questioned why the team management continues to deploy him only in the later stages of the innings.

With the second T20I set for November 10, Rinku Singh’s batting position will be a topic of discussion among fans and analysts. Chopra’s comments have ignited a debate, raising questions about the team’s strategy and whether it is being fair to the talented young batsman.
