Sun Nov 10 15:39:17 UTC 2024: ## Fertilizer Inspections Conducted in Tiruchi Amidst Heavy Monsoon and Paddy Sowing

**TIRUCHI, November 10, 2024:** Amidst heavy monsoon rains and a surge in paddy sowing activity, agriculture officials in Tiruchi district conducted surprise inspections on Tuesday to ensure the availability of fertilizers at government-mandated prices. The inspections targeted wholesale fertilizer dealers to prevent any illegal sales exceeding the maximum retail price (MRP) or unauthorized stockpiling.

Out of the 161 private wholesale outlets and 234 retail outlets in the district, 63 were inspected across various agricultural blocks. While no major violations were found, minor lapses were noted, such as the lack of adequate display of available stock at some outlets.

Dealers have been instructed to comply with regulations, including regular updates on stock information and accurate disclosures to relevant authorities. Joint Director (in-charge) of Agriculture Kannan emphasized that any violations of the Fertilizer Control Order, 1985, will result in legal action.

“The department is committed to ensuring a fair and efficient fertilizer supply chain to support farmers during this critical season,” he stated.
