**Chennai, India** – Renowned Tamil actor Ganesan, popularly known as Delhi Ganesh, passed away on Saturday night at the age of 80. The veteran actor, who had a prolific career spanning over 400 films, breathed his last in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. His funeral is scheduled for Sunday.

Delhi Ganesh, born in 1944, began his journey as a member of the Delhi-based theatre troupe Dakshina Bharata Nataka Sabha. He served in the Indian Air Force from 1964 to 1974 before dedicating his life to acting. His versatile performances graced Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi films, as well as television serials.

He received the Tamil Nadu State Film Award Special Prize for his role in “Pasi” (1979) and was honored with the prestigious Kalaimamani award in 1994 by former Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa.

Among his notable roles in Tamil cinema are his performances in “Sindhu Bhairavi” (1985), “Nayakan” (1987), “Michael Madana Kama Rajan” (1990), “Aahaa..!” (1997), and “Thenali” (2000). Delhi Ganesh also made a mark in Malayalam cinema with memorable roles in films like “Dhruvam” (1993), “Devaasuram” (1993), “Kaalapani” (1996), “Keerthi Chakra” (2006), and “Pokkiri Raja” (2010).
