Sun Nov 10 05:43:18 UTC 2024: ## India to Skip 2025 Champions Trophy in Pakistan, Hybrid Model Rejected
**Mumbai:** In a significant development, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has informed the International Cricket Council (ICC) that the Indian team will not travel to Pakistan for the 2025 Champions Trophy.
The tournament, scheduled from February 19 to March 9, 2025, is set to be hosted by Pakistan. BCCI has also communicated its decision to the Indian government.
The BCCI has proposed a hybrid model for the tournament, where India’s matches would be held at neutral venues while other matches would take place in Pakistan. However, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Khan has rejected this proposal. He stated that if India wants to participate, the tournament must be held entirely in Pakistan. Khan reminded that the Pakistani team had traveled to India for the 2023 World Cup under the hybrid model.
The BCCI is currently exploring the possibility of hosting India’s matches in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). This decision comes amidst a tense political climate between the two nations, with India refusing to play Pakistan on their soil in recent years.
The Champions Trophy is an eight-team tournament and its future now hangs in the balance with India’s participation in question.
