**THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, INDIA -** The 9th edition of the Film Preservation and Restoration Workshop India 2024 kicked off in Thiruvananthapuram on Friday, bringing together experts from around the world to share their knowledge on safeguarding cinematic heritage. The workshop, organized by the Film Heritage Foundation, is hosting 66 participants from India, Australia, South Korea, the United Kingdom, Romania, Sri Lanka, and other countries.
Sessions are led by prominent figures from leading institutions such as L’Immagine Ritrovata, Institut National de l’Audiovisuel (INA), and The Criterion Collection/Janus Films. Topics covered include digital preservation, film conservation and restoration, digitization, disaster recovery, cataloguing, paper and photograph conservation, and programming.
The workshop officially opened on Thursday with a ceremony attended by renowned filmmaker Saeed Akhtar Mirza, actors Sheela and Jalaja, and Chief Secretary Saradha Muraleedharan. The event is expected to provide valuable training and resources for film professionals and enthusiasts alike, contributing to the preservation of cinematic treasures for future generations.
