Sat Nov 09 10:48:01 UTC 2024: ## Suryakumar Yadav Steps in to Defend Sanju Samson in Heated On-Field Exchange

**Cape Town, South Africa:** A tense moment unfolded during the first T20I between India and South Africa when India skipper Suryakumar Yadav stepped in to defend wicket-keeper Sanju Samson from a heated exchange with South African all-rounder Marco Jansen.

The incident occurred before the third ball of the 15th over, when Jansen expressed his displeasure at Samson stepping onto the pitch to collect the ball. Suryakumar, known for his jovial demeanor, donned his angry avatar as he pointed out that Jansen was impeding Samson’s ability to catch the ball.

The heated argument involved both Jansen and his partner, Gerald Coetzee, with Suryakumar stepping in to mediate the situation. He also had to explain the matter to the on-field umpires.

Despite the tense exchange, Samson went on to be the hero of the match, smashing his second consecutive T20I hundred and helping India set a daunting target of 203 runs. South Africa were bowled out for 171 in pursuit of the target.

After the match, Suryakumar praised Samson’s hard work and commitment, highlighting his dedication to the team. “The amount of hard work he has put in over the last few years, doing the boring work, he is eating the fruits of that. He was in the 90s but still he was looking for a boundary, playing for the team which shows the character of the man and that’s what we look for,” said Suryakumar.

The incident serves as a reminder of the passionate nature of the game, where players often go to great lengths to defend their teammates and contribute to the team’s success.
