Sat Nov 09 11:03:51 UTC 2024: ## Teenage Spinner Ghazanfar Spins Bangladesh to Defeat in 1st ODI

**Sharjah, UAE:** An 18-year-old off-spinner, Allah Ghazanfar, orchestrated a stunning collapse for Bangladesh in the first ODI of the three-match series against Afghanistan, leading his team to a dominant 92-run victory at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium.

Ghazanfar, who took the new ball alongside fellow paceman Fazalhaq Farooqi, claimed a remarkable 6 wickets for just 26 runs in 6.3 overs. His spell, which included a hat-trick, left Bangladesh reeling after they had been comfortably placed at 120/2 in pursuit of a modest 235-run target.

Ghazanfar, with his subtle variations, picked up his first wicket in his second over, dismissing Tanzid Hasan for just 3 runs. After a quiet first spell, he returned in the 31st over, immediately sending back Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Mushfiqur Rahim in successive overs. He then went on to claim three wickets in one over, dismissing Rishad Hossain, Taskin Ahmed, and Shoriful Islam, effectively dismantling the Bangladesh batting order.

Earlier, Mohammad Nabi and captain Hashmatullah Shahidi had scored 84 and 77 runs respectively, guiding Afghanistan to a total of 235 in 49.4 overs. Taskin Ahmed and Mustafizur Rahman each took four wickets for Bangladesh, but their efforts were rendered futile by Ghazanfar’s exceptional spell.

Bangladesh ultimately lost their last seven wickets for just 11 runs in 27 balls, surrendering the match to Afghanistan, who now lead the series 1-0. Ghazanfar was aptly named the Player of the Match for his match-winning performance.
