**Mumbai:** Ajay Devgn’s “Singham Again,” the third installment in the “Singham” franchise and the fifth film in Rohit Shetty’s cop universe, continues to dominate the box office, raking in over 180 crores in just eight days.
The film, which released on Diwali, had already crossed the 100 crore mark in its first week, showcasing a strong opening. While collections witnessed a dip on weekdays, “Singham Again” has managed to maintain a strong hold, generating 7.50 crores on the eighth day, taking its total gross to 180.50 crores.
Despite the film’s strong performance, it has only managed to recover 50% of its estimated 350 crore budget. However, on a global scale, the film has already crossed 260.50 crores, representing 75% of its total budget.
“Singham Again” has surpassed the 147.97 crore collection of Devgn’s earlier release “Shaitaan” this year. The film is now poised to break the record of “Drishyam 2,” which garnered 239.67 crores in India. This achievement is expected to occur within the next two days.
The film’s success comes amidst competition from Kartik Aaryan’s “Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3,” which also released during Diwali and has already grossed over 170 crores.
While “Singham Again” has been lauded for its action sequences and Devgn’s charismatic portrayal of the titular character, some critics have pointed to the film’s predictable plot and over-reliance on the tried-and-tested formula.
Regardless, “Singham Again” has clearly resonated with audiences, becoming one of the biggest hits of the Diwali season. The film’s success highlights the enduring popularity of the “Singham” franchise and Rohit Shetty’s brand of high-octane action cinema.
