Sat Nov 09 03:43:57 UTC 2024: ## India Dominate South Africa in T20I Series Opener, Samson Shines with Century

**Durban, South Africa** – India started their four-match T20I series against South Africa with a resounding 61-run victory in the first match at Kingsmead in Durban. Sanju Samson, continuing his brilliant form, smashed a second consecutive century in T20Is, guiding India to a formidable score of 202/8.

Samson’s blistering innings of 107 runs off just 50 balls, studded with 7 fours and 10 sixes, set the tone for the match. He received excellent support from Suryakumar Yadav, who contributed 21 runs, before falling victim to a bizarre over filled with extras bowled by Patrick Kruger. Tilak Varma then partnered with Samson to solidify the innings, ultimately contributing 33 runs before being dismissed.

India’s bowlers then displayed clinical efficiency, restricting South Africa to a paltry 141 runs in 17.5 overs. The Proteas were never able to recover from a shaky start, losing three wickets in the powerplay. Spinners Varun Chakravarthy and Ravi Bishnoi proved particularly effective, stifling the South African middle order. Chakravarthy claimed two crucial wickets in the 12th over, dismissing both David Miller and Heinrich Klaasen, who had threatened to lead a comeback. Bishnoi followed suit in the 13th over, claiming two more wickets to effectively end South Africa’s hopes of chasing the target down.

Arshdeep Singh and Avesh Khan also made early contributions, taking wickets in the powerplay and setting the tone for the Indian bowlers. Avesh Khan ultimately ended the match, clean bowling Keshav Maharaj to secure India’s victory.

The second T20I of the series is scheduled for November 10th at St. George’s Park in Gqeberha.
