Thu Nov 07 07:46:04 UTC 2024: ## Four Pakistani Security Personnel Killed in Roadside Bombing, Two Children Die in Mortar Blast
**Peshawar, Pakistan –** A roadside bomb targeting security forces in South Waziristan, a former stronghold of the Pakistani Taliban, killed four officers and wounded five others on Wednesday, officials reported. The same day, two schoolchildren were killed by a mortar explosion in the Tirah valley of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.
The Pakistani Taliban, known as Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), has intensified its attacks in the region since their Afghan counterparts seized power in neighboring Afghanistan in 2021. No group has claimed responsibility for the Wednesday bombing.
While the military has launched multiple operations against the TTP and other insurgents in South Waziristan and surrounding areas, the militants continue to carry out frequent attacks.
Meanwhile, Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi met with Chinese Ambassador Jiang Zaidong in Islamabad on Thursday to discuss the investigation into an attack on Tuesday. Two Chinese nationals working at a textile mill in Karachi were shot and wounded by a security guard, allegedly due to a private dispute. China has repeatedly called for improved security for its citizens working in Pakistan under the Belt and Road Initiative, a multibillion-dollar project with a significant Chinese presence in the country.
