Fri Nov 08 23:24:47 UTC 2024: ## NASA Crew Remains Tight-Lipped on Medical Incident After ISS Return
**Houston, TX -** Three NASA astronauts who were hospitalized following their return from the International Space Station (ISS) two weeks ago have confirmed they are in good health, but have offered few details regarding the medical incident. The crew, citing medical privacy laws, are leaving the specifics of their ordeal to NASA, which is currently investigating the issue.
“Space flight is still something we don’t fully understand. We’re finding things that we don’t expect sometimes – this was one of those times,” stated Michael Barrett, the crew’s pilot, during a press conference. “We’re still piecing things together. In the fullness of time, we will allow this to come out.”
The incident occurred shortly after the crew, including Barrett, Matthew Dominick, and Jeanette Epps, landed in a SpaceX capsule in the Gulf of Mexico on October 25th. The crew had spent seven months in orbit on the ISS.
NASA had previously stated that the crew was transported to Ascension Sacred Heart hospital in Pensacola, Florida, “out of an abundance of caution,” and that one crew member was briefly hospitalized before being released.
Despite the health scare, the astronauts, during their first public appearance since the mission’s end, spoke about their initial struggles readapting to Earth, including issues with dizziness and discomfort from sitting in hard chairs after months of weightlessness.
The mission had been expected to end in August but was extended by two months due to technical issues with Boeing’s Starliner capsule. The extended stay, combined with the unexpected delay caused by Hurricane Milton, resulted in a prolonged stay in space for the crew.
“You’re like, are we going home tomorrow? You call your wife, like, hey, we’re coming home tomorrow, and then we’re not, and then we’re coming home, no, next week. Maybe,” said Dominick, the mission’s commander. “That part was entertaining to deal with, but it was definitely great to spend bonus time in space.”
While the crew has assured the public of their well-being, the details of their medical incident remain a mystery. NASA is expected to release further information as the investigation progresses.
