Sat Nov 09 02:23:37 UTC 2024: ## India to field C-Team in 2-match Test series against West Indies, only 4 players from NZ series to be included

**New Delhi:** The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is likely to announce a 15-member squad for the upcoming 2-match Test series against West Indies, with a focus on giving opportunities to young players. The series, scheduled for early next year, will be played after the 5-match Test series against England.

To facilitate a smooth transition in the team, the BCCI is likely to rest key players like Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Ravindra Jadeja, Ravichandran Ashwin, and Jasprit Bumrah for the West Indies tour. This will pave the way for new faces to prove their mettle and stake their claim for a place in the main team.

**Rishabh Pant** is tipped to lead the side, with the selectors keen on giving him captaincy experience for the future. Pant’s impressive performance in the Test format has made him a frontrunner for the role.

**Shubman Gill, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Ruturaj Gaikwad, KL Rahul, Sarfaraz Khan, Axar Patel, Mohammed Shami, Prasidh Krishna, Sai Sudarshan, Devdatt Padikkal, Nitish Reddy, Saurabh Kumar, Ravi Bishnoi, and Shahbaz Ahmed** are expected to be part of the squad.

**Ruturaj Gaikwad**, in particular, is expected to replace Rohit Sharma in the opening slot. His consistent performances in India A, Irani Trophy, and Dilip Trophy have earned him a shot at the big stage.

The BCCI is expected to announce the squad in the coming days.
