Thu Nov 07 15:19:48 UTC 2024: ## Karnataka CM Accuses BJP of Lying About Guarantee Schemes, Demands Modi Apology
**Sandur, Karnataka -** Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Thursday launched a scathing attack on the BJP, accusing the party of spreading lies about the state government’s implementation of its election promise guarantee schemes.
Siddaramaiah’s comments come in response to an advertisement published by the Maharashtra BJP unit which claimed that the Karnataka government had not fulfilled its promises on guarantee schemes. The advertisement, titled “Vaada Kiya, Dokha Diya” (Promised and Betrayed), directly targeted the Karnataka government’s flagship scheme, Gruha Lakshmi, which provides monthly financial assistance to women heads of households.
Addressing a public meeting in Sandur, Siddaramaiah refuted the BJP’s claims, stating that the Karnataka government has successfully implemented all five guarantee schemes. “The BJP is spending crores of rupees to spread lies,” he said, further pointing out that the money for the Gruha Lakshmi scheme for the previous month would be released within a day or two.
In a strong counterattack, Siddaramaiah also questioned the BJP’s own promises, particularly those made by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He highlighted Modi’s unfulfilled promises of bringing back black money stashed abroad and distributing it to citizens, creating two crore jobs annually, and delivering “Achhe Din” (good days).
Later, in a media statement, Siddaramaiah demanded an apology from Modi for the false advertisement published by the Maharashtra BJP unit. He further asserted that the Karnataka government has paid ₹2,000 to each of the 1.22 crore beneficiaries of the Gruha Lakshmi scheme since August 2023, amounting to a total of ₹30,285 crore.
The Chief Minister also issued a challenge to the Maharashtra BJP, demanding they publish a similar advertisement acknowledging the successful implementation of the guarantee schemes. He warned of legal action if they fail to do so.
Siddaramaiah’s strong condemnation of the BJP’s advertisement highlights the ongoing political battle in Karnataka, where the Congress government is keen to showcase its achievements and defend its policies against opposition attacks.
