Fri Nov 08 06:23:52 UTC 2024: ## Pakistan Cricketers Practice on Marble to Emulate Australian Pitches

**KARACHI:** In a bid to prepare for the upcoming T20I series in Australia, Pakistan’s cricketers are employing an unconventional training method. The squad has been practicing batting on a marble surface at the National Bank Stadium, aiming to mimic the fast and bouncy pitches they will encounter down under.

The idea for this unique drill came from wicketkeeper batter Usman Khan, who observed the team’s performance in the first ODI against Australia. He believes that practicing on the hard marble surface will help players adapt to the Australian conditions and improve their timing on fast pitches. “After watching our performance in the first ODI, we realized we needed to adapt to Australia’s high bounce,” he said. “Practicing on marble helps us become more proficient at fast pitches by improving our timing and mastering shots like the pull and cut.”

Khan acknowledged the challenges posed by Australian conditions but expressed confidence in the team’s preparations. “Early wickets are often a risk on both sides, so adapting quickly is vital,” he stated.

This innovative training method highlights the Pakistan team’s determination to overcome the unique challenges of playing in Australia. While the team currently trails in the ODI series, this unorthodox training approach suggests they are taking every step necessary to be prepared for the T20I series, scheduled for November 14-18.
