Fri Nov 08 08:07:53 UTC 2024: ## Pakistan Opener Saim Ayub Blasts Australia to Secure Series Win
Adelaide, Australia: Young Pakistan opener Saim Ayub smashed a blistering half-century, guiding his team to a comfortable victory over Australia in the second ODI of the three-match series. Ayub’s brilliant 50 off just 47 balls, including three sixes and four fours, paved the way for a 163-run chase, securing the series for Pakistan.
The 22-year-old showed remarkable composure after a shaky debut in Australia last summer, silencing his critics with a display of power and precision. He was particularly ruthless against the Australian bowlers, especially Pat Cummins, who conceded an expensive 11 runs from his single over.
Ayub’s innings was a highlight of a dominant performance by Pakistan. Earlier, they had bowled out Australia for their lowest ODI total against the Asian side, 163, courtesy of Haris Rauf’s outstanding five-wicket haul (5/29) and Shaheen Shah Afridi’s three-wicket haul (3/26).
The victory was built on a solid foundation laid by the Pakistan bowlers, who relentlessly attacked the Australian batting line-up. Mohammad Rizwan, behind the stumps, excelled with six catches, a remarkable feat in an ODI.
Australia’s batting was plagued by poor shot selection and a lack of consistency. Steve Smith top-scored for the home side with 35 runs, but no other Australian batsman was able to reach double figures.
With the series win in hand, Pakistan now faces a weakened Australian side in the third ODI. Australia has decided to rest a number of key players, giving the tourists a good chance of a clean sweep. The third ODI will be played on Sunday.
