**MANGALURU, November 8, 2024:** The third edition of the Mangalore Marathon is set to take place this Sunday, with over 5,000 runners from India and abroad ready to participate. The event will see runners from Ethiopia, Kenya, Japan, Switzerland, and Spain competing alongside local participants.

The marathon, starting at 4:15 am from Mangala Stadium and ending around 10:30 am at Tannirbhavi, will feature six categories: 42K full marathon, 20 Miler (32K), 21K half marathon, 10K, 5K, and 2K gammat run. Students aged 8 to 17 will have separate 10K and 5K runs.

Race Director Abhilash Dominic highlighted the event’s international appeal, with 1,400 runners traveling from outside Mangaluru. The event also boasts a strong local presence with nearly 1,000 students registered for the students’ run.

Organizers have ensured a smooth running event with the Mangalore City Police providing zero traffic along the route throughout the duration of the marathon. A free ferry ride from Tannirbhavi jetty to Sulthan Battery will be provided for participants of the 10K run.

Director (Participant Experience) Ramesh Babu emphasized the organizers’ commitment to participant safety. Twelve pacers have been designated to guide participants through the race, and adequate water stations, toilets, and treatment facilities have been placed along the route.

The event will also feature real-time updates of race timings and use of Artificial Intelligence to provide runners with personalized photographs of their run. The highest prize money of ₹12 lakh will be awarded to the winners of the full marathon.

Race kits and bibs can be collected at the third floor of Fiza Nexus Mall in Pandeshwar until Saturday, November 9th.
