Thu Nov 07 16:40:20 UTC 2024: ## Tamil Nadu Braces for More Rain as Cyclonic Circulation Weakens

**Chennai, November 7, 2024:** After a spell of rain across coastal and interior Tamil Nadu and Puducherry on Thursday, the Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) in Chennai has predicted continued rainfall across the state, with heavy downpours expected in specific districts on Friday.

The cyclonic circulation over the Bay of Bengal, which brought the initial rain, has now moved southwestward. As a result, the RMC forecasts light to moderate rain with thunderstorms and lightning in south Tamil Nadu and parts of north Tamil Nadu on Friday.

Heavy rain is expected in isolated locations across Madurai, Virudhunagar, Tenkasi, Tirunelveli, Kanniyakumari, Thoothukudi, Ramanathapuram, Sivaganga, Pudukkottai, Thanjavur, Tiruvarur, Nagapattinam, and Mayiladuthurai districts, as well as the Karaikal area of Puducherry on Friday.

On Saturday, the focus of heavy rain is expected to shift to the delta districts, with light to moderate rain with thunderstorms and lightning anticipated in one or two locations statewide.

Thursday’s rainfall saw Nungambakkam record 13.8mm of rain, Meenambakkam 7mm, and Ennore port 7.5mm, while other locations like Villivakkam, ACS Medical College, Poonamallee, Puzhal, and Chembarambakkam reported higher figures.
