**SINGAPORE -** External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar kicked off his two-state visit to Singapore on Friday, November 8th, by meeting with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Trade and Industry Gan Kim Yong. The two leaders discussed bolstering the bilateral relationship, focusing on key areas like industrial parks, green energy, skilling, innovation, and semiconductors.

“Started my visit to Singapore by meeting DPM & Minister for Trade and Industry Gan Kim Yong,” Jaishankar shared on X, formerly known as Twitter. “Discussed taking forward contemporary partnerships with a focus on industrial parks, green energy, skilling, innovation and semiconductors.”

Jaishankar’s visit comes on the heels of Singapore’s Minister of Defence Dr. Ng Eng Hen’s three-day visit to India, where he co-chaired the sixth India-Singapore Defence Ministers’ Dialogue.

The close partnership between India and Singapore, marked by a strong Indian community presence in Singapore, has been evolving since the inception of India’s Look East Policy in the early 1990s. Both countries are committed to strengthening their ties further.

As part of his visit, Jaishankar will address the eighth Roundtable of the ASEAN-India Network of Think Tanks. He will also meet with other Singaporean leaders to further strengthen the relationship. This visit comes at a time when India is actively engaging with Southeast Asia through its Act East Policy, aiming to deepen its economic and strategic partnerships in the region.

The Indian External Affairs Minister’s visit to both Australia and Singapore is expected to strengthen the already warm and friendly ties between India and these two key countries.
