Thu Nov 07 22:45:05 UTC 2024: ## Delhi BJP, Congress Criticize AAP Government Over Yamuna Pollution Ahead of Chhath Puja

**New Delhi, November 7, 2024** – Delhi’s political scene is heating up as the Chhath Puja festival approaches, with both the BJP and Congress targeting the ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) over the state of the Yamuna River.

Delhi BJP chief Virendra Sachdeva slammed the AAP government, claiming the High Court’s recent observations about the “highly polluted” Yamuna had “exposed” the government’s claims of cleaning the river ahead of the festival. Sachdeva alleged that hundreds of ghats constructed by the AAP government for Chhath Puja were not fully functional.

Delhi Congress president Devender Yadav echoed these criticisms, accusing Chief Minister Atishi of failing to take corrective measures despite concerns raised by the party about the deteriorating air and water quality in the city.

The accusations come amidst the ongoing preparations for Chhath Puja, a major festival celebrated by millions in the region. The Yamuna River holds significant religious importance for the festival, and the current state of the river has raised concerns among devotees.
