Fri Nov 08 07:19:10 UTC 2024: ## West Indies Fast Bowler Suspended for On-Field Spat with Captain

**Bridgetown, Barbados:** Cricket West Indies (CWI) has suspended fast bowler Alzarri Joseph for two matches following a public dispute with captain Shai Hope during the third ODI against England at Kensington Oval.

The incident occurred during Wednesday’s match, which the West Indies won by eight wickets. Joseph, after taking a wicket, walked off the field in protest against the field set by Hope, leaving his team momentarily with ten players. While he returned to bowl, he continued to display discontent, leaving the field again after making two misfields.

Despite the public display, Joseph finished the match with 2 wickets for 45 runs in 10 overs. However, CWI deemed his behavior unacceptable, stating it fell short of their “standards of professionalism.”

“Alzarri’s behavior did not align with the core values that Cricket West Indies upholds,” said CWI director of cricket Miles Bascombe. “Such conduct cannot be overlooked, and we have taken decisive action to ensure the gravity of the situation is fully acknowledged.”

Joseph has since apologized for his actions, stating that his “passion got the best of him.” He expressed regret for any disappointment caused, and offered personal apologies to Hope, his teammates, management, and fans.

Head coach Daren Sammy echoed the concerns, expressing his disappointment and emphasizing the importance of professional conduct on the field.

Joseph will miss the first two matches of the upcoming five-match T20 series against England, which begins Saturday at Kensington Oval.
