Fri Nov 08 05:00:00 UTC 2024: ## Telangana Government Announces Free TET Exam for Previous Applicants, Reduces Fees

**Hyderabad:** In a move aimed at easing the financial burden on aspiring teachers, the Telangana government has announced that all candidates who applied for the Telangana Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) in May 2023 will be eligible to appear in the upcoming TET exam scheduled for January 2024, completely free of charge. The government has also significantly reduced the examination fee for the upcoming exam.

The TET fee, which was previously Rs. 1000 for one paper and Rs. 2000 for two papers, has now been reduced to Rs. 750 for one paper and Rs. 1000 for two papers. The detailed notification was released by the School Education Director, Narasimha Reddy, and the TET Convener, Ramesh, on Thursday.

“Candidates who applied for the TET in May, regardless of whether they qualified or not, will be eligible to apply for the upcoming exam free of cost,” announced the officials.

The application process for the TET exam has commenced. Applicants can submit their applications online at https://schooledu.telangana.gov.in and pay the fee between 7th and 20th of this month. The exam will be conducted from January 1st to 20th, 2024, in two sessions: morning (9:00 AM to 11:30 AM) and afternoon (2:00 PM to 4:30 PM). Hall tickets can be downloaded from December 26th onwards. The results of the exam are expected to be announced on February 5th.

Aspiring teachers can apply for Paper 1 to teach classes up to 5th standard and Paper 2 for classes 6th to 8th. The question paper will be available in two languages: English and any one of the eight other languages – Telugu, Urdu, Hindi, Bengali, Kannada, Marathi, Tamil, and Gujarati.

As in previous years, the marks obtained in the TET exam will carry 20% weightage in the District Selection Committee (DSC) process.
