**Lakhimpur Kheri, India:** Thousands of devotees, including men, women, and children, gathered at the Seth Ghat in Lakhimpur Kheri on Thursday evening for the third day of Chhath Puja, a festival dedicated to the worship of the Sun God.

The day is marked by the ritual of offering ‘argha’ (prayer offerings) to the setting sun. Devotees, after observing a strict fast and performing rituals at home, stood in the river and offered prayers as the sun began to set. The festival is believed to bring blessings of prosperity, good health, and the fulfillment of wishes.

The municipality of Lakhimpur Kheri made extensive arrangements for the festival, including security measures and traffic management.

Local MLA Yogesh Verma and the Municipal President Dr. Hira Srivastava were present throughout the day, ensuring smooth conduct and offering their best wishes to the devotees.

The Chhath Puja, which began on Kartik Shukla Chaturthi, is celebrated over four days. The offering to the setting sun on the third day symbolizes the culmination of hard work and dedication, while the offering to the rising sun on the final day represents the beginning of a new phase.

The festival is deeply ingrained in the cultural fabric of the region and is celebrated with great enthusiasm by the people.
