Thu Nov 07 16:45:04 UTC 2024: ## Skoda Launches Kylaq: A Budget-Friendly SUV Without ADAS

Skoda has entered the competitive sub-4 meter compact SUV market with the Kylaq, priced under Rs 800,000. This new offering boasts popular features like a sunroof, keyless entry, and automatic climate control, but notably lacks Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS).

Despite the absence of ADAS, Skoda is confident the Kylaq will be a popular choice. Petr Janeba, Skoda India Brand Director, emphasizes the vehicle’s value proposition, stating, “Even without ADAS, this car is quite attractive. You cannot have everything, and we are focussing on creating Kylaq as an attractive price-value proposition.” The company hopes the Kylaq will contribute to their ambitious goal of reaching 100,000 unit sales by 2026, aiming to double their current sales figure.

While ADAS is not currently available on the Kylaq, Skoda plans to introduce it gradually, starting with higher-end models. The Kushaq, priced above Rs 10 Lakh, is expected to receive a facelift in the first half of 2024, featuring ADAS.

Janeba explained their strategic approach, stating, “We would bring ADAS gradually starting with facelifts for the higher-end cars. So when the Kushaq Facelift will be introduced next year, it will feature ADAS and this car will also get it one day but higher-end cars will get it first.”

Skoda’s decision to prioritize ADAS for higher-end vehicles stems from concerns about its practical effectiveness in Indian traffic conditions. While ADAS features like emergency braking and lane keep assist are designed to improve driver safety, they may not be as effective in congested urban environments where road rules are frequently ignored.

As Skoda continues to grow its presence in India, the Kylaq’s success will hinge on its appeal to budget-conscious buyers. The company’s gradual introduction of ADAS across its lineup suggests a cautious approach, prioritizing affordability and ensuring a tailored approach to the Indian market.
