**Gurugram, India –** With the Air Quality Index (AQI) in Gurugram remaining stubbornly in the “very poor” category, residents of the DLF Primus housing complex in Sector 82 have taken a unique approach to combatting air pollution. They are using high-powered sprinklers and water pipes, originally intended for firefighting, to create artificial rain over the complex.
Video footage from Thursday shows water cascading down from the complex’s 32-storey towers, effectively washing away dust and particulate matter. Achal Yadav, president of the complex’s resident welfare association (RWA), explained the initiative, saying, “Pollution is becoming a serious issue and it cannot be controlled by the government alone. Every resident of Gurugram has to contribute.”
Yadav emphasized that the artificial rain, which could be conducted daily depending on the AQI, is intended to mitigate the harmful effects of pollution, especially on children and senior citizens.
The RWA has also implemented a carpool service for residents traveling to Cyber City, Delhi, and other areas, a service that has gained popularity among residents of other complexes.
This innovative approach to air pollution control echoes the sentiments of Delhi Environment Minister Gopal Rai, who recently announced the AAP government’s consideration of using artificial rain as a method to improve air quality.
DLF Primus’s initiative highlights the growing concern over air pollution and the proactive measures being taken by communities to protect their health and well-being.
