**TIRUPPUR, November 7, 2024:** The Tiruppur administration has issued a stern warning against illegal mining activities on Poromboke land, stating that offenders will face prosecution under the Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Act and Tamil Nadu Minor Mineral Concession Rules.
District Collector T. Christuraj announced that the Revenue, Geology and Mines, and Police departments are actively monitoring illegal mining activities, with taluk-level committees headed by Tahsildars overseeing the efforts. The Collector cited Government Order 170, which outlines procedures for seizing vehicles and compounding offenses related to illegal mining, and emphasized that landowners from where illegal mining is carried out and those involved in the activity will be subject to criminal prosecution and fines.
The public is encouraged to report any instances of illegal mining to the aforementioned government departments or the taluk-level monitoring committees.
