**Bengaluru, India:** Former British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and his wife, Akshata Murty, were spotted in Bengaluru this week, engaging in both religious and casual activities. The couple, accompanied by Murty’s parents, Infosys co-founder N.R. Narayana Murthy and Rajya Sabha member Sudha Murty, visited the Raghavendra Swamy Mutt in Jayanagar on Wednesday to offer prayers.
Photos of the couple participating in traditional temple rituals and seeking blessings from Guru Raghavendra Swamy have been shared widely on social media. Sunak, known for his religious connection to India, lit a lamp and performed a special puja in honor of the month of Kartika. The family, known devotees of Guru Raya, frequently serve at the Raya Math.
Later, the couple enjoyed a coffee break at the popular Third Wave Coffee shop in Bengaluru. Pictures of Sunak, sporting a crisp white shirt and black trousers, and Murty, wearing a pastel-colored kurta, at the cafe have also gone viral.
This visit marks another instance of Sunak’s continued connection with India, even after his tenure as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. His wife, Akshata Murty, whose family is deeply rooted in Indian culture and spirituality, has influenced Sunak’s own religious practices. As a devotee of Guru Raya, Sunak is known to fast every Thursday, breaking his fast only at night.
