**Milan, Italy** – Arsenal will be without midfielder Declan Rice for Wednesday’s Champions League clash against Inter Milan, manager Mikel Arteta confirmed. Rice sustained a foot injury during the Gunners’ recent Premier League victory over Newcastle and is also a doubt for Sunday’s match against Chelsea.

“Declan unfortunately picked an injury against Newcastle. He wasn’t feeling good the last few days,” Arteta told reporters in Italy. “We’ll have to assess him on Thursday and see if he’s ready for Chelsea.”

Rice’s absence is a blow to Arsenal, who have relied heavily on the England international this season. The former West Ham star has started every game he was available for, except for the EFL Cup tie against Preston.

However, there was some positive news for the Gunners as captain Martin Odegaard has returned to training and made the trip to Italy. The Norwegian midfielder has been sidelined since August 31st with an ankle injury but is expected to feature at the San Siro.

“He’s a bit earlier than expected,” Arteta said of Odegaard’s recovery. “But it’s great to have him here and we will decide if we use him tomorrow.”

The Gunners are also without left-back Riccardo Calafiori and defender Takehiro Tomiyasu.

Arsenal are currently top of their Champions League group, but a win against Inter would secure their place in the knockout stages.
