Wed Nov 06 20:10:00 UTC 2024: ## Panthers Activate Second-Round Pick Jonathon Brooks, Ready for Debut

**Charlotte, NC** – The Carolina Panthers have finally activated second-round draft pick Jonathon Brooks from the Non-Football Injury (NFI) list, paving the way for the rookie running back to make his NFL debut. The move comes after weeks of speculation surrounding Brooks’ recovery from an ACL injury sustained in November 2023.

Brooks, who was drafted at No. 46 overall, missed training camp and the first four weeks of the season due to the injury. Despite reports indicating he would be ready for camp, the Panthers opted to keep him on the NFI list, which mandated a minimum four-game absence.

While coach Dave Canales has not confirmed Brooks’ debut for Sunday’s game against the Giants in Germany, the running back has now participated in four full practices, including today’s.

The Panthers, who are in the midst of a rebuild, were hesitant to rush Brooks back from his injury, opting to play it safe with their highly-touted rookie. Brooks, who is signed through 2027, is expected to see significant playing time, adding depth to a running back room that includes starting back Chuba Hubbard (in a contract year) and veteran Miles Sanders.

Brooks’ arrival adds an intriguing dimension to Carolina’s offense, particularly given the lack of first or second-round running back selections in this year’s draft. The Panthers traded up in the draft to secure Brooks, outmaneuvering the Giants, who were reportedly interested in the Texas product.

With Brooks now available, the Panthers look to add some spark to their running game as they continue their rebuild.
