**Chennai, November 7, 2024:** Senior BJP leader H. Raja has accused the ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) party in Tamil Nadu of undermining the Tamil language and Tamil identity. In a statement released on Wednesday, Raja alleged that the DMK has betrayed its promises to develop Tamil and instead actively worked to suppress it.
Raja claimed that the DMK’s campaign against Hindi, its advocacy for a two-language policy (English and Tamil), and its push for making Urdu compulsory were all tactics aimed at preventing the spread of nationalist thought and limiting the learning opportunities of Tamil people. He also criticized the DMK government for ignoring the state anthem in official functions attended by Chief Minister M.K. Stalin.
Raja attributed this alleged neglect to the DMK’s Dravidian ideology, which he claims is rooted in the teachings of E.V. Ramasamy (Periyar), who criticized Tamil as a barbarian language and opposed the recitation of the Tamil anthem.
“We must save Tamil, Tamils, and Tamil Nadu from the DMK,” Raja urged, highlighting his belief that the ruling party is a threat to the very essence of Tamil culture and identity.
