**Mathura, India** – With the festival of Chhath just around the corner, the Mathura district administration is taking stringent security measures to ensure the safety and smooth flow of devotees visiting the Yamuna ghats.
District Magistrate Shailendra Singh and SSP Shailesh Pandey conducted an on-site inspection of the ghats on Tuesday, focusing particularly on the Vishram Ghat, the most important ghat in Mathura.
“The number of devotees visiting Mathura and Vrindavan has increased significantly throughout the year, and we constantly update our arrangements accordingly,” said DM Singh. “However, certain occasions, like Chhath, see a massive influx of devotees, necessitating special arrangements.”
He highlighted the recent surge in devotees during Bhai Dooj and anticipated a similar scenario during Chhath. “Dev Deepawali will be celebrated before Chhath, and we have instructed the deployment of divers on the ghats, alongside other security measures,” he added.
SSP Pandey emphasized the focus on the evening of November 7th and morning of November 8th, when the maximum number of devotees will be present for the Chhath celebrations. “We will deploy Civil Police and PAC personnel at the ghats,” he stated. “Recognizing the large number of women devotees observing fasts, we will deploy police in plainclothes to ensure their safety. Adequate force will also be deployed for traffic management.”
The district administration has also stressed the importance of maintaining a safe and secure environment for devotees, with special attention being given to the arrangements for the upcoming Chhath festival.
